ACSC's Floating Pumpkin Patch
ACSC's Floating Pumpkin Patch is a special event open to all Sail Cube sailors and their guests.
We throw 'em, you fetch 'em! Everyone goes home with a pumpkin or gourd. The sailor who collects the most pumpkins gets first pick of the patch.
Sailors may sail double-handed (two per boat), but scoring is based on the number of pumpkins per sailor — not per boat.
(Yep, pumpkins float!)

On-Water Trick-Or-Treating
On-Water Trick-or-Treating is a special event open to all Sail Cube sailors!
Each “house” (aka buoy) has a different treat... slime? Candy? Kitty cat ears? Try to visit them all before time runs out!
Bonus points for sailors in costume!
How On-Water Trick-or-Treating Works:
Earning Treats with Tricks:If you can’t reach every buoy before time runs out, don’t worry! You can still earn treats by completing fun “tricks,” such as:

How On-Water Trick-or-Treating Works:
- Several buoys will be set up on the Bay, each representing a house where sailors can collect treats.
- Sailors will have a limited amount of time to reach as many buoys as possible.
- To collect a treat token, sailors must stop at each buoy by entering the no-go zone or safety position.
- Each buoy has color-coded tokens made from pool noodles. Sailors will peel off a token and keep it safe on their boat.
- After sailing, the collected tokens can be traded in for real Halloween treats.

- Tying a specific knot
- Telling a joke
- Participating in other silly challenges

We don't mind sailing in the rain! However, we will reschedule or offer credits due to unsafe weather conditions such as thunder and lightning.
Important information about ACSC programs:
1. This is a dinghy sailboat training program, which means you will spend some time in the water. Strong swimming skills are NOT a requirement, yet it's important to feel comfortable getting into the Bay water. Please contact ACSC via email if you have questions about swimming ability.
2. We require that properly fitting positive flotation (foam, NOT inflatable) life vests are worn while on the beach, dock, and on/in the water. We provide foam life jackets, though you are welcome to bring your own.
3. Part of the training includes learning how to recover from a capsize (when the boat turns over). We will have all participants purposefully capsize boats occasionally, and practice turning them back upright. Because participants will be in the water, clothes and shoes that can tolerate water immersion are key.
4. Water, sails, and sun make for potent UV rays. Hats, sunscreen, and opaque clothing are important. Please bring enough water for the full day. Hydration is as important as sun protection.
5. Footwear is important to your safety on the water as well. Sandals are okay in the boatyard, but participants must wear close-toed shoes with a heel strap while sailing.
6. Food: Pack a lunch for full-day programs and just water and a snack for part-day programs.
7. While programming is in session only campers & staff are allowed inside the ACSC campsite. Friends and family are welcome to view the sailing from the Bay Trail or Encinal Beach.
8. Our course objective is to provide safe & fun training that results in course graduates being able to safely and confidently skipper a dinghy sailboat while under the supervision of a safety boat.

ACSC is committed to supporting our local community and each year offers full and partial scholarships to families in need. Roughly 25% of our youth attend on scholarships, and we award over $20,000 in scholarships annually. Full ScholarshipsFamilies on government assistance or with an annual household income of less than $55,000 qualify for a Full Scholarship. These scholarships cover the full cost of the sailing camp aside from a $25 non-refundable registration fee.

Half & Partial ScholarshipsFamilies with a combined household income of less than $85,000 qualify for a Half Scholarship, and under $106,000 qualify for a Partial (25%) Scholarship.
