Learn-to-Sail Packing List:
  • Close-toed shoes that can get wet
  • A jacket
  • Towel and change of clothes (including dry shoes) - You will get in the water to launch/land your boat, and there's always the chance of capsizing! Post-sailing dry clothes are a must.
  • Lunch, snacks, and water bottle
  • Sunblock
  • Sunglasses and/or brimmed hat
  • Your sense of adventure! ;)
ACSC will provide:
  • Life vests
  • Sail Boats
  • Safety Boats
  • Instructors with US Sailing and First Aid/CPR certifications

Please be aware that at ACSC, we sail small dinghy sailboats. Sailors must be able to move quickly from one side of the cockpit to the other. Additionally, students are asked to push/pull the boat on a dolly across the parking lot and up/down a sandy hill to the water. For those with injuries or mobility issues, this might not be the appropriate platform for learning. However, we are happy to make accommodations to suit your needs. Please reach out to us to discuss your specific situation and we'll make sure we help get you out on the water!

Where is ACSC located?

Latitude 37.770620, Longitude -122.292485
Roads? We don't need roads. Or more likely we don't have a street address... The Alameda Community Sailing Center is located next to the Encinal Boat Ramp, on the south west shore of Alameda. An access road connects to Central Ave, behind Encinal High School.

In short, if searching via google maps doesn't result in something that looks like the map below,
search for Encinal Boat Ramp. We're in the same lot. Look for the sailboats.
