The 44th annual Round Treasure Island was a success. With the support of the Alameda Community Sailing Center, and the City of Alameda, we were able to host a fantastic event from the Encinal Launch ramp in Alameda. Competitors began showing up Friday afternoon to setup their boats in preparation for buoy racing on Saturday and a distance race around Treasure Island on Sunday. People came from Santa Rosa all the way down to Carpinteria to share a love of sailing and community.
With a special permit, guests were allowed to spend the night Friday and Saturday nights and discuss the racing, tuning tips, and otherwise catch up. On Saturday evening guests were provided a full Tri-Tip BBQ dinner. The buoy racing went fantastically with cooperative warm weather, with a light wind in the morning building to exciting double trapeze fun in the afternoon. Sunday had been forcasted as a lighter day, but ultimately saw the racing called off as boats approached the bridge due to high winds and unruly waves on the other side of the island. One Miracle 20, one Hobie 18, and one Hobie 16 rounded the island for fun after the race was canceled. Competitors were warned of nasty bay mud and shallow obstacles at the launch ramp and getting off of the beach, but found the facilities to be easily manageable and were excited at the prospect of coming back next year to the new location.

Photos were taken by a local guy, Rafi, from his Trimaran, while acting as a support boat. The first photo was taken by his daughter back in 2012 during a previous event.
